About
Cosford Dog Training
Cosford Dog Training is run by Warrant
Officer John Fitzpatrick a fully qualified, professional
dog trainer since completing formal training as
a Royal Air Force Police dog handler in 1981.
On completion of training the following
two years were spent employed on the staff of
the Royal Air Force Dog Management Centre, where
a vast amount of experience training police dogs
for service with the Royal Air Force was acquired.
At that time the Dog Management Centre was widely
regarded as the foremost dog training establishment
in the world. The experience and knowledge
gleaned from some of the best trainers of service
dogs, both general purpose RAF Police dogs and
specialist search dogs was absolutely invaluable
and laid the foundation for a lifelong interest
in, and study of dogs.
In 1983, following numerous successes
in military working trials the Royal Air Force
Police UK Working Trials Championship was added
to the list of titles with my dog, Khaled, breaking
several long standing records along the way.

My first RAF Police Dog,
9442 Air Dog Ben. 1981
In addition to my formal training
within the RAF, over the past 10 years several
courses of study and numerous workshops in the
study of canine behaviour have been successfully
undertaken, some of which were funded by the Service
whilst others were funded privately.
I hold a Foundation Degree in Canine
Behaviour and Training awarded by Hull University.
I Hold a Certificate in Post Compulsory
Education (Cert Ed) awarded by Wolverhampton University.
I have recently been appointed the
Senior RAF Police Dog Trainer at the Defence Animal
Centre, a post which I take up in December 2010.
